Elisa, Elisa, Elisa - the passion and love you hold for the being we all fight for is something so incredibly special, I am so honored to have gotten to record it, and in the process, found a friend. I first found Elisa through her video of her meeting Johnny, in which she is in the crowd of thousands of people, and whispers something sweet to Johnny, which makes him get emotional and kiss her hands. That not only touched me to how lovely Elisa is, but to how kind and genuine Johnny is, and the scope/depth of the mutual respect between him and his supporters. You can hear about Elisa's thoughts on the case and how deep her love for this case goes below.
Isabella: Hi! Thank you so much for doing this. Would you like to introduce yourself?
Elisa: Hi ! I'm very glad to be a part of your project. My name is Elisa, I'm 21 and I live in Paris, France. You might know me as @johnnydeppcollection on instagram and @deppressead on twitter. As you can notice, my social medias accounts are related and dedicated to Johnny Depp. I admire the man and his work since I was 6 or 7, and he's definitely a big part of my life in many ways.
Isabella: How did you first hear about the case, and Johnny Depp in general? What were your thoughts, and whose side did you take?
Elisa: I knew about the case since day 1 in May 2016, when the first photo of Amber Heard's bruise was published by the press. I was shocked at first and I couldn’t believe what I've seen. I don’t know Johnny personally, for sure. But as many people, the whole story wasn’t clear at all… Johnny isn't known as a violent person. But Amber Heard is.
So I've chosen my side and I never had any doubt about his innocence.
Isabella: Was there a change in your perspective? What piece of evidence/moment was the thing to change your mind/confirm your beliefs?
Elisa: Well I've always believed in his innocence and his words. I never stopped fighting for him, and sharing a part of the truth with people on social media so that they could see another side of the story the public knows about. And that is really unfair because people believe what they read and they won't search for facts.
People who started following this case closely know that since 2016, many evidences were already proving Johnny Depp’s innocence. The last evidences, which came lately, were confirming my first thoughts : Amber Heard manipulated the public opinion with fake photos, fake statements and facts, and thanks to powerful people she has been heard by media as a victim. But I have no doubt that all of this is over, and Johnny will finally get justice.
Isabella: What inspired you to spread awareness of this case? What social platforms do you use and how do you use them?
Elisa: I was shocked seeing people canceling Johnny Depp since the very first day. No one thought “wait, maybe he's innocent? Maybe I should wait for more informations before using the #JohnnyDeppIsAnAbuser hashtag? Maybe it's all lies?”.
To the public eye, when it comes to a woman accusing a man of violence, it's nothing but the truth. This is why I fought and keep fighting so hard everyday, so that the truth wins at the end. I want the case being an example for all men, victims of abuse by a woman, and particularly, stopping relentlessness against men. We are in a society where the #metoo movement and so many others are used to spread hate against men, not equality. And this hate leads to cancel an innocent man without any fact nor proof. They just use few hashtag and it's all over. People destroy a man, a family, a career, with nothing but scam. As a french, it’s not always easy to understand court documents and every specificity of the case but, especially on twitter, I'm trying to spread every information, to use hashtag and reminding everyday what Amber Heard's lies caused the hell where Johnny has been through. We must not forget what happened to him, it's really important. It shows that men can be also victims.
Isabella: Can you tell me about your experiences meeting Johnny (I love the one of you kissing each other's hands!)? What has he been like?
Elisa: I had the opportunity to meet Johnny 4 times in my life ! But the one you've mentioned was the last time I met him. I was on September 2019 at the Deauville Film Festival in France.
When he came over me, I looked in his eyes and, I just can't explain what I felt but it broke my heart. I thought about all the pain he's been through lately and I wanted to show him my support. I just told him “I am so sorry for what happened to you Johnny”. It meant a lot to me telling him that I, we, are so sorry for what he's been through. I just can’t imagine how much this broke him.
He took my hands and told me "don't be sweetie, I'm okay now", and kissed my hand. I'm still deeply moved emotionally when I think about that moment. He might not thinking about this anymore, but I'm so happy and so honored to have had the chance to tell him that. He's not just an Hollywood famous actor! He's a gentle and kind soul. It’s important that people who are able to meet him, share their support. He must remember that he's loved and supported. He's a very sweet and humble man. When you talk to him, he gives all the attention to you and he listens to what you’re telling him. He makes you feel special.
Isabella: In this case, what do you believe is the most important aspect/the aspect that resonates with you the most in this case? (media manipulation, lack of justice in the system, awareness for male victims of domestic abuse, etc) Do you have any personal experience you are willing to share?
Elisa: MEN VICTIMS ARE NOT HEARD! Seriously, this aspect is terrible. The media kept mocking and harassing Johnny from the beginning of the case to this very day. When you explain to people Johnny has been victims : they laugh and can’t believe a man can be hit. And it's a shame, to all the people who think that.
Isabella: If you could say anything to people who are not convinced of Johnny’s innocence, believe Amber is not abusive, or still cling to a “mutual abuse” narrative, what would it be?
Elisa: Read about the case, read about both of them (Johnny and Amber Heard) learn about their behavior and how people see them, how people talk about them. And you'll see how much one is described as a kind and gentle person and the other one is described as a wanna-be-a-diva monster.
Isabella: Do you have a favorite Johnny Depp film/role?
Elisa: Edward Scissorhands is my favorite role ! I've watched it with my mom when I was a kid, it was the first movie I cried to. I couldn’t stop thinking about Edward for days then.
I could watched it 5 times a week and wouldn't get bored at all. Johnny only spoke few words in this movie, but his emotion came through his eyes. I am still convinced no other actor could be able to play Edward.
Fun fact: my parents thought my love and obsession for Edward Scissorhands was a phase. Well I got his face tattooed on my leg last year lol
